There has to be a feed on the runescape website with trusted community members if jagex wont assign a jmod. Comment any tweet, article, or discord message feeds into it. Yeah it could be cluttered but this really is some bs where everything filters misses a huge chunk of our RuneScape playerbase.I’m so happy that you bring this up. We had a debate about implementing this idea, as per jmod suggestion, on the wiki.
The largest problem with all these is that you have to read beyond a whole lot of crap and useless posts for some meaningful/news advice; none of them filter out anything to make it more concise and to the point. Also, any of those reddit or discord message monitoring is going to be out of circumstance, so the actual significance might just completely bypass you if you don’t go farther into the discussion and look back at all of the previous messages at the time that you has been submitted. Twitter is somewhat better in this regard since the thread of replies is preserved.
So it’s far easier to get the context, but still requires additional time spent studying through other stuff which could have been more neatly packed into a condensed on-site post or in-game message. Some sort of weekly roundup of notable info from Twitter, Reddit, and Discord ought to be posted to the site as a news article. Matters like coldfixes, hotfixes, and maintenance that is scheduled should have a notice in the lobby or login messages someplace.
Yeah absolutely. Like the individual who submitted the screenshot of 1,600 or something stars they bought. Thats ~32m xp that they have super cheap since he happened to adhere to the ideal accounts on Twitter. Is that fair? Admittedly it was posted here on reddit multiple times but we shouldn’t need to rely on the grapevine for official communications (they are). I mostly only jump on reddit when I’m killing time, I can not remember the last time I had been on here while sitting in my computer. Usually I don’t even read this sub because I am a fairly casual RuneScape participant and just use reddit for memes or trendy items.
Discord’s even worse than Twitter since you have to actually connect the server to be able to see any of the content or discussion happening in there instead of Twitter where it is all publically available. You also need to keep up with the discussion happening in each station in order to really get any information from some of it instead of Twitter where all of the info is in a single tweet or directly in that thread rather than thousands or hundreds messages in the past. Both aren’t great, but I will take news just on Twitter any day over news only on Discord, even though they really need to step up on utilizing the official site and in-game messaging.
